The Background for this D-Day ProjectI met John Nitcy in August 2013, in at the Bird Aviation Museum, in Sagle, Idaho. I quickly understood that as teachers, John and I had many common points, the most obvious one being our boundless dedication to WWII veterans. Since then, we have been thinking about how both our WWII school programs - "his" Sandpoint High School Honor Flight Club and my "Operation Band of Brothers" project - could join to give birth to something common. I feel lucky to be able to work with an American teacher as humble as John and his students, who must be up to him. I already know my own students will love this partership. While in Normandy in June 2014 - we live in Southwestern France - each of us will be honored to lay your beautiful wreaths in memory of men who were and will always be the perfect embodiment of courage and dedication to others I cannot end this note without having very special thoughts for your fellow citizens who made the ultimate sacrifice for my country, France. They are our adopted sons forever
more. -Christelle Zuccolotto |
